Japanese Glutton Is New Top Dog of Frankfurters

NEW YORK — Hirofumi Nakajima, a 144-pound furniture delivery man, has dethroned the world hot-dog-eating champion, 320-pound Ed “The Animal” Krachie, by downing a record 23 1/4 hot dogs in 22 minutes.
Alternating bites with sips of water, Nakajima, 22, pulled each frank from its bun Wednesday, then crammed bread and beef separately but neatly into his mouth. Krachie ate 21 dogs, one off the record he had set July 4.
