Illegal Immigrants

* Re Political Briefing, “Antonovich’s Simple Cure for Almost Any Ill: Law and Border,” Nov. 29.

Mr. Antonovich, I am in your corner 100% on this matter of illegal immigrants. I have no problem with anyone being here in America as long as they are here legally and they obey the law of the land. It is only those people who are here illegally that I despise.

As for Gloria Molina and her statement, “Believe it or not, these kids are as American as you or me”: How absurd her statement sounds. Does she attempt to obfuscate the problem? Has she forgotten how many good, patriotic Mexican Americans have given their lives in war so that these hoodlums can exercise their rights of freedom (regardless of whether their actions are right or wrong)?

Antonovich, perhaps your request to the board is too simplistic in nature? After all, additional help from the FBI on this matter does make sense. Our local law enforcement agencies are overwhelmed with the volume of crime, and they are losing the battle. It is as if they are fighting the Vietnam War again. They are taking and then retaking the same hill the next day.
