EU and U.S. Still Working on Tech Accord
European Trade Commissioner Sir Leon Brittan said the European Union and the United States are in agreement on many aspects of a global information technology accord but that there are still some points to be worked out. “There is not an agreement yet,” Brittan said following a meeting with acting U.S. Trade Representative Charlene Barshefsky. “There is agreement on many points. There are some outstanding ones. We are trying to resolve those.” Brittan declined to say what issues are outstanding. Barshefsky declined to comment.
