Downpour: The torrents that drenched the Valley the last two days were nothing compared to the flood of February 1992. . . . That storm unleashed 6.14 inches of rain on Woodland Hills in just 24 hours and flooded the Sepulveda Basin. Still, meteorologist Curtis Brack of WeatherData Inc. called this week’s storm “a fairly potent one. Stronger than average.”

Mr. Popular: Ever since the Trial of the Century, Part 1, Judge Lance Ito has been a hot item on the speaking circuit. So it took some patience to schedule his Jan. 25 appearance at the installation dinner for new board members of the Valley chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League. . . . Said Phil Shigekuni, a board member: “We had to make arrangements a year in advance.”

Prime Time: Two championship football games will be played at the Coliseum on Friday night. Both will feature Valley high schools--Taft and Van Nuys--and both will be televised. KLCS, the Los Angeles Unified School District channel that usually airs a homework hotline, will begin its telecast at 5 p.m. . . . Said production coordinator Bob Greene: “I have extra feelings about this because all my kids went to Taft.”
