From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A kindergarten teacher from Charleston who wrote “Where are my glasses!” on the face of a student was suspended for 20 days, according to a North Carolina newspaper. In a unanimous vote by the school board, a compromise was reached to reinstate Phyllis Adelsflugel if she completes sensitivity training and receives a 20-day suspension without pay, the Post and Courier reported. The teacher must also provide proof of her apology to 5-year-old Nina Campbell and her parents for writing on the girl’s face, refrain from marking on any other students, and allow administrators to monitor her classroom at Pepperhill Elementary School. Adelsflugel could face dismissal if she rejects the compromise.
