Orlando guard Penny Hardaway, experiencing soreness in his left hamstring tendon and upper calf muscle tissue, flew to Houston on Friday to have his leg examined.

The injury is not related to the arthroscopic surgery Hardaway underwent last month to repair torn cartilage in his left knee, Magic trainer Lenny Currier said.

“The arthroscopic surgery resolved the torn cartilage in his left knee,” Currier said.

“However, he still has discomfort in the soft tissue area behind his left knee.”

Hardaway was scheduled to arrive in Houston on Friday night while the Magic were in Vancouver for a game against the Grizzlies. He will also sit out today’s game in Utah as the Magic wrap up a five-game trip.

Hardaway will see orthopedist and Houston Rockets team doctor Walter Lowe, who examined Hardaway before his operation.

After sitting out 12 games because of his knee surgery, Hardaway rejoined the Magic on Tuesday, playing in a 99-93 victory over Portland.
