Blood Center Sued by U.S. Government

The federal government sued the New York Blood Center, the nation’s biggest independent supplier of blood, for failing to maintain adequate methods of screening blood for infection. Federal prosecutors simultaneously announced they had also filed a consent decree in which the center agreed to correct violations and take steps to assure the purity and quality of its blood products.
