Re “Carville Resumes Campaign Against Starr,” Dec. 11:

James Carville, Clinton’s hatchet man, should take a real good look in the mirror. He’s on a wild public campaign accusing Kenneth Starr of being a prosecutor with a prejudiced venue because: 1) He’s a Republican, 2) sat with Pat Robertson and 3) represented the tobacco industry.

If memory serves me right, how about Carville’s credentials: 1) He’s a Democrat, 2) is a political mover who gets paid to create plans to promote Democratic views, and to trash anything that smells Republican and 3) gets paid huge speaking fees bashing Republicans.

This Carville’s crusade has all the strategic earmarks of the White House “war room.” What are they afraid of?

* Regarding Carville’s “blistering” campaign: “It is a very aggressive campaign and it is making it look like they have something to hide,” said Joseph diGenova, Republican, former U.S. attorney, former independent counsel and current media talking head in one of the more inept statements to come forth in defense of [independent counsel] Starr.
