Personnel with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department capped off a week of giving Friday after presenting refurbished bicycles and handmade toys to about a dozen needy children.

Inmates at the Sheriff’s Branch Jail Honor Farm in Ojai spent months working on the bikes and building the toys, which were handed out Thursday evening and Friday morning, said Capt. Mike Ball, a department spokesman.

The Candelaria American Indian Council also helped to distribute the toys to needy children, Ball said.
