Tree Recycling Program Scheduled for January
- Share via
Hoping to reduce crowding at local landfills and put the evergreens’ wood to good use, Thousand Oaks is again offering free Christmas tree recycling.
Residents can either leave their Christmas trees on their curbs on regularly scheduled trash days from Jan. 6 through Jan. 10, or take the trees to one of three locations from Jan. 3 through Jan. 12.
The three locations are Home Depot, 500 N. Ventu Park Road, in Newbury Park; Triunfo Community Park, 980 Aranmoor Ave., in Westlake; and Cal Lutheran University, Mount Clef Boulevard and Olsen Road, in Thousand Oaks. Trees should be taken to these locations between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Thousand Oaks is sponsoring the Christmas tree recycling program along with Conejo Valley Disposal, Block Disposal, Newbury Disposal and Valley Commercial Disposal.
Trees collected will be hauled to the Calabasas Landfill and California Wood in Ventura, where they will be chipped and used as mulch throughout the Conejo Valley.
For more information, call Thousand Oaks’ Recycling Hotline at 449-SAVE.
