From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Four Army paratroopers were being questioned in a drive-by shooting at Ft. Bragg, N.C., that left two civilians wounded, an Army commander said. Officials said a shot was fired from a vehicle the soldiers were riding in Friday night after a basketball game at Ft. Bragg in which all six had participated. One of the civilians was a teenage son of an Army soldier; the other was his friend. The youth was hospitalized at Womack Army Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the hand, while his friend was treated for a shoulder wound and released. Ft. Bragg’s Criminal Investigation Division officials were questioning the four paratroopers. Officials said they believe that they have identified the shooter, who apparently used a .45-caliber pistol. No identities were released.
