Memorial Service Set for Cronenweth

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m. for Jordan Scott Cronenweth, an independent cinematographer who died Nov. 29 at age 61. The service will be at the Bel-Air Presbyterian Church, 16221 Mulholland Drive in Los Angeles.

Cronenweth, who died in Los Angeles of Parkinson’s disease, was nominated for an Academy Award in 1986 for his work on “Peggy Sue Got Married.”

He won the British equivalent of the Oscar in 1982 for his imaginative photography on “Blade Runner.”

Greatly admired by his peers, Cronenweth became known for working on independent and non-mainstream productions. Among them were Frank Perry’s “Play It as It Lays,” Ken Russell’s “Altered States” and several films by Jonathan Demme, Francis Coppola and Phil Joanou.

The family has asked that any memorial donations be made to the Parkinson’s Institute, 1170 Morse Ave., Sunnyvale, CA 94089.
