A negligence lawsuit was filed against a Marina del Rey charter company by 61 people who had to abandon ship when a yacht burst into flames.
The suit against Sundowner Charters Inc. and others, filed this week in Santa Monica Superior Court, seeks unspecified damages.
Seven of the Christmas party attendees from Trust Company of the West were hospitalized Dec. 7 while scurrying to get off the MV Sundowner. A Sundowner spokesman could not be reached for comment.
The complaint alleges that Sundowner employees were negligent in maintaining the vessel and acted recklessly on the night of the fire.
