USC, UCLA Women Are Tournament Co-Hosts

The UCLA and USC women’s basketball teams, in their final nonconference games, play host to New Orleans and Western Kentucky at the Sports Arena today and Sunday.

USC (5-2) plays New Orleans (4-3) at 1 p.m. today, then UCLA (4-3) plays 10th-ranked Western Kentucky (6-1) at 3. USC and UCLA are co-hosts of the event, the Pac-10/Sun Belt Challenge.

The Trojans have won three consecutive games and New Orleans has lost its last two. UCLA was 0-2 on its recent trip, losing at George Washington and Seton Hall. Western Kentucky is led by 6-foot-4 Leslie Johnson, who led Purdue to the Final Four two years ago before transferring. She is averaging 18 points a game.

The teams will swap opponents for Sunday’s games, at 1 and 3:30.
