Clinton, Archer Meet to Discuss Policy

House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Bill Archer (R-Texas) and President Clinton met for over an hour to discuss tax policy, Medicare, Social Security and other budget matters, the Washington Post reported in today’s editions. Archer suggested the meeting to discuss upcoming legislative issues, but a top administration official said the meeting was a “courtesy call” and “not a budget negotiation,” the paper reported.
