Probation Department Will Train Volunteers

Share

The Orange County Probation Department is seeking applicants for a Volunteer Probation Officer training class planned for this spring.

After training is completed, volunteers help probation officers to supervise low-risk offenders, assist in job placement, interview offenders in jail, and offer support and guidance.

Volunteers also coordinate recreational activities and serve as mentors and role models for youths in programs that offer alternatives to incarceration. They also are court officers for Peer Court, which is made up of Juvenile Court sessions conducted on high school campuses with a Superior Court judge and teenage juries.
