CHP on Lookout for Expired Registrations

Share

The California Highway Patrol has launched an intensive, monthlong program targeting drivers with expired vehicle registrations.

The CHP, which has dubbed the effort “Go for the Green,” vows to pull over any car with a license plate tagged with an expired green registration sticker.

“This program is designed to clean up the late, year-old registration on vehicles being operated in our communities illegally,” said CHP Capt. Dave Kissinger. “All local law enforcement agencies have been asked to participate in this endeavor.”

The CHP has run similar operations for the past several years and has nabbed dozens of drivers.

According to the department, officers will issue “correctable citations,” which give violators 30 days to update their registrations.

If not corrected, cases will be referred to the courts and fines will be levied.
