Was T.J. Apology a Little Cheesy or Is He Simply Crackers?

Share

What? Was that an overdue apology to Packer fans from T.J. Simers cloaked in gratuitous cheese in Monday’s edition?

This guy knows less about football than Norman Pheeny, the cute baby in the Pepsi commercial.

Give it up, Simers. Lose the “Cheatin’ Cheeseheads” line. Little Green Bay has two things you and the rest of Southern California will never have--a football past and a football future.

T.J. Simers’ writing was consistent all season--smack the Pack, no matter what! He’s just another frustrated sportswriter in a city without an NFL team. I think a well-deserved promotion to a horse racing beat would help thaw him out.

Like it or not, T.J., the Pack is back, and they’re here to stay. This team, with its community ownership structure, its modest role-model leaders and its selfless team spirit, represents everything that pro sports should be in America. This is in pleasant contrast to the bunch of crackheads, sex freaks and money-loving Cowboys, whom you supported all year.

I urge you to take a fresh look at the situation, for the continuation of your anti-Pack bias will result in your column continuing its descent to tabloid level and your next job being at the Dallas Morning News, where you belong.
