Input Sought on Hiring Schools Chief
Santa Paula residents are being asked what qualities the next superintendent of the elementary school district should possess.
The public will have its say at a special hearing at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Blanchard Elementary School cafeteria, 115 Peck Road.
People unable to attend the meeting may mail comments to the board of trustees. The address is the Santa Paula Elementary School District, 144 Davis St., P. O. Box 710, Santa Paula 93061-0710.
Trustees of the 3,600-student district placed previous Supt. Dave Phillips on administrative leave in December until the contract for his $104,000 job expires in June. The relationship between Phillips, who had led the district since 1989, and some trustees had been rocky for several months before he was told to clear out his desk.
Bonnie Bruington, assistant superintendent for seven years, was appointed acting superintendent in December.
