In reading the article “Sudden Losses” Jan. 26, I couldn’t help but imagine the grievous stories of family loss we’re sure to be reading about if Camarillo State is transformed into a university.

The road down Long Grade Canyon is steep and winding and requires careful negotiation at slow speeds. Students tardy for their night classes after a full day of work hoping to make up a few precious minutes by hurrying, are sure to meet with an early demise. Add to that the immortal attitude of youth, and we have surely concocted a deadly potion.

I think that the hospital is a lovely location for a campus, but let’s be realistic about the dangers involved with the commute and not wait for hindsight to tell us that we made a horribly tragic mistake.
