Thomas A. Fuentes, six-term chairman of the Orange County Republicans, should step aside so his party can get the transfusion it needs with new blood.
This is the gentleman who wrote in a letter to The Times on Sept. 21, 1996: “Make no mistake. Bob Dole is well on his way to becoming the next president of the United States. I don’t believe in polls from liberal newspapers with their biased agendas. . . . The momentum is on our side and the liberal Democrats are running scared in Orange County. . . .”
