College Dean to Lead Job Training Project
- Share via
A community college administrator has been appointed to lead a partnership between the Ventura Community College District and the county’s work force training programs.
Cheryl Shearer, the newly appointed Dean of Economic Development, will develop the work force training programs at all three of the district’s colleges with an aim of developing job skills for welfare recipients.
Additional assignments for Shearer will include working on curriculum development with the three colleges to meet the accelerated training needs of groups affected by corporate downsizing, or those involved in business incubators or entrepreneurial programs.
Shearer’s appointment was announced last week following a districtwide notice to all academic deans that applications were being taken for a lateral transfer position.
The district currently has 18 dean-level managers serving at Moorpark, Oxnard and Ventura colleges and the district office.
