Gun Control

Share

Would someone please try to explain to David Drubeck (letter, Feb. 3) that it is already against the law to murder someone? His attempt to transfer responsibility [for Corie Williams’ killing] away from the real culprits and onto anti-gun-control people is hopeless. The real guilty ones are those who have allowed the justice system to become self-serving, unresponsive and inadequate to the task of enforcing the responsibilities of liberty.

If society and the defendant were given a speedy trial, and punishment was swift and sure, few people would feel that they could shoot without fear of retribution. Does Drubeck really think that a person willing to shoot someone in cold blood is going to have any problem obtaining an illegal weapon?
