Twenty-five cars of a coal train derailed Saturday near the Missouri Capitol, spilling coal on tracks along the Missouri River. No one was injured.

Three rail cars fell over and 22 more were piled up about half a mile from the Capitol. Each car carried about 100 tons of coal, but authorities weren’t sure how much spilled. None went into the river.

The 112-car Union Pacific train was traveling from the Powder River Basin near Gillette, Wyo., to a coal-exporting facility in Chester, Ill., officials said. Rail delays were expected as crews cleared the tracks, which are used by about 35 trains each day. The cause of the accident had not been determined.
