Spotlight: Find a Worker, Collect $6,000

Adaptec Inc., a Milpitas-based computer connections maker, is rewarding employees at its Irvine office with $5,000 bonuses for finding workers to fill positions on a list of “critical hires.” That comes on top of a $1,000 reward for standard employee referrals. Four of the 20 positions on the list have been filled by people suggested by employees. Adaptec says such referrals tend to be low-risk because they are known entities and low-cost compared with the fees charged by professional search firms.
