Valley College Opens Job Resource Center

Officials at Valley College say students will no longer have to travel all over campus for help with financial aid or finding a job, thanks to the new Job Resource Center.
Part of the One-Stop Workforce Center, the program, which opened this week, aims to provide students with job leads and employers with quality candidates.
“Some people would think that the campus itself is a one-stop center,” said Lennie Ciufo, director of the college’s Job Training Partnership Act. “But these services [at the new center] reach out to private industry and the community. That’s something that hasn’t been here before.”
Groups like Ciufo’s JTPA and the college’s Tech Prep, citizenship and cooperative education programs will have space at the center, which also will have staff from the California Employment Development Department.
Students will be able to search computerized job listings and polish resumes at the center.
“We’d like to have an umbrella over all of those areas that will provide people with jobs,” Ciufo said.
