Residents Must Join Sound Walls Battle

Share

It appears that if someone is not there to “rock the boat,” nothing happens, everything is status quo.

For over eight years, I have invested my time and effort in fighting Caltrans for sound walls on the 118 Freeway in Simi Valley. A committee was formed and we met with the powers that be at three meetings. We also had one meeting in which neighborhood councils were present. After the last meeting, and months later, complete silence, as if nothing ever happened.

I have lived in Simi Valley since 1961 and the people here have always been shortchanged. We are the stepchildren of the state, sitting back and watching as more affluent areas reap the rewards of our tax dollars. Ask the people of Agoura how they appreciate their sound walls.

I know there are many homes along the freeway and beyond that are affected by this horrendous noise problem, especially from constant truck traffic, and yet these homeowners don’t seem to want to get involved and leave the fighting for the other guy.

Get involved if you are disturbed by the freeway noise. Make some noise yourselves and let your senator and council members hear about it.
