Edelman to Speak at Women’s Forum
Marian Wright Edelman, founder and president of the Children’s Defense Fund, will be the keynote speaker at the 18th annual Creative Options: A Day for Women on March 1 at Cal Lutheran University.
Edelman, who founded the fund in 1973 to educate the country on the needs of children, has been an advocate for the disadvantaged for her entire professional career. In addition to heading the nonprofit group, she is the author of several books including “The Measure of Our Success” and “Families in Peril: An Agenda for Social Change.”
The one-day event at the Thousand Oaks campus also will include more than 70 workshops on topics such as family relationships, dreams, careers, finance, religion and alternative medicine.
The deadline for registration is Friday. Fees are $28, $15 for seniors and $10 for students. For information, call Cal Lutheran’s Women’s Resource Center at 493-3345.
