Fenix at the Argyle, 8358 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood, (213) 654-7100. Let’s just put it this way: One very famous new mom likes to nurse her child here.

The Pub at Barnabey’s Hotel, 3501 N. Sepulveda Blvd., Manhattan Beach, (310) 545-8466. The so-called Pub at this old-fashioned pink hotel, the gateway to the yuppie beach enclave, sports Victorian wallpaper, antique lamps and features a live pianist Fridays 4-9 p.m.

Bar at the Hotel Bel-Air, 701 Stone Canyon Road, Bel-Air, (310) 472-1211. This romantic hotel, which has been around since the ‘40s (although the building’s been there since 1920), offers a quiet, upscale, vintage L.A. experience.

The foyer at Chateau Marmont, 8221 Sunset Blvd., Hollywood, (213) 656-1010. You really should stay here (at least once), but a cocktail in the elegant and discreet lobby is the next best thing.

Windows on Hollywood at the Holiday Inn, 1755 N. Highland Ave., Hollywood, (213) 462-7181. A rotating lounge atop a beige and white building that’s vintage ’72. All you need is a leisure suit.

The Hana Lounge at Hotel Nikko, 465 S. La Cienega, Beverly Hills, (310) 247-0400. Casual elegance is the theme in the Japanese-style bar that has a fountain pool designed like a Japanese rock garden as its centerpiece and sleek black leather club chairs. The resident jazz band, the Paul Turner Trio, plays nightly 8 to midnight.

Sky Bar at the Mondrian, 8440 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood, (213) 848-6025. OK, you’ve read about this minimalist delight every week now. Time to go and see it for yourself. Call to be added to the guest list.

The Club Lounge at the Peninsula, 9882 Santa Monica Blvd., Beverly Hills, (310) 551-2888. Sordid tales always make for nice atmosphere. Must be on guest list.

Grand Avenue Bar at the Regal Biltmore Hotel, 506 Grand Ave., downtown, (213) 624-1011. One of the last vestiges of downtown class, this 1923 bar no longer features jazz. In its place, however, is a large-screen TV for the traveling sports enthusiast.

Whisky Bar at the Sunset Marquis, 1200 N. Alta Loma Road, West Hollywood, (310) 657-0611. From the man who brought us the Sky Bar, the original ModelSlashActress hang. Need to get on a waiting list if you’re not a) famous or b) a hotel guest.

La Brasserie Bar at the Wyndham Bel Age Hotel, 1020 N. San Vicente Blvd., West Hollywood, (310) 854-1111. One of the classiest piano rooms in town and a view to boot.
