An ‘80s Kind of Thing

Share

It really is the ‘80s all over again. Monday night at Goldfingers Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil was holed up in a booth with a bodyguard and a couple of A&R; types--probably plotting the Crue’s comeback--while the Bluetones performed a little bit of rock ‘n’ blues. (You can catch the Bluetones every weekday at the House of Blues during lunchtime.) . . .

Dayle Gloria, who promoted some of the best clubs in the Reagan years (remember Scream?), deejays all New Wave at a new incarnation of Seven Seas, every Sunday at the Opium Den in Hollywood. . . .

Beck fans will have to go to every show of the upcoming KXLU-No Life Records shows. Beck is scheduled to perform an unannounced set at one of the four shows at the following all-ages venues: the Impala Cafe (March 6), Alligator Lounge (March 7-8) and No Life Records Shop (March 9).

The shows are raising money for the production of “Demolisten: Vol. 2,” an upcoming compilation album on the No Life label of mostly unsigned local acts featured on Fred Kiko’s and Tony Kiewel’s KXLU (88.9 FM) demo radio show, which airs every Friday from 7-8 p.m. . . .

A real success is Super Diamond, a fab Neil Diamond tribute band making waves at the Viper Room (you can check ‘em out this Sunday).
