Airline Strike

Share

President Clinton has veered off course once again and taken action that flies in the face of every working person in America; this time, by denying American Airline pilots the right to strike for a better contract (Feb. 15).

Picketing pilots have warned passengers for weeks to make other arrangements. American Airlines canceled many flights in anticipation of the strike and, because profits have been up, were able to put together a $2-billion war chest to beat down the employees who have made them successful. And the president perceived this as an emergency?

As long as corporate America remains in the control tower, the legacy of this president will be flawed by numerous tread marks inflicted on his integrity while vacillating to and fro in the middle of the tarmac.
