Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies concluded a 10-day investigation Monday afternoon when they arrested a man they believe committed more than 10 bank robberies in Ventura, Los Angeles and Santa Barbara counties.

Thomas Palmer, 44, of Marina del Rey was arrested on suspicion of bank robbery and was being held in the Los Angeles Men’s Central Jail, said Lt. Ken Fowler of the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station.

Nicknamed the “Long-Note Bandit,” the alleged bank robber wrote unusually lengthy notes, which he used to carry out his crimes. The alleged thief struck a Marina del Rey bank last week, officials said.

“Malibu detectives worked with the Marina del Rey Sheriff’s Station, and they conducted a lengthy and in-depth investigation,” Fowler said. “A week and a half of surveillance went into this arrest.”
