Authentic Fitness Posts $4.6-Million Profit

Authentic Fitness Corp., a Van Nuys swimwear maker, said its profit for the second fiscal quarter, which ended Jan. 4, was $4.6 million compared to a loss of $1.2 million in the second quarter last year.

Sales were $70.4 million, down 9% from $77.3 million last year.

For the first six months of 1997, the company’s loss was $6.9 million compared to a profit of $1 million in the first half of 1996. Revenues for the first two quarters were $109.1 million, down 9% from $120 million in the first six months of last year.

The company said sales decreased during the quarter due to the discontinuation of ski wear and outlet divisions. Floods in Nevada also delayed shipments from the Sparks warehouse.
