Youth / News for the 18-and-under crowd

Ryan Mannix, of Santa Margarita Catholic High School, has been chosen to attend this year’s National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C., one of 350 students nationwide chosen for the honor.

During the weeklong conference, students will meet with officials from the three branches of the federal government, as well as with diplomats and the national press corps. Mannix will also participate in a mock session of Congress to build debate skills, as well as other activities.

Mannix, a junior, plays varsity football at Santa Margarita, is president of the Japanese Animation Club and plays bass in a band.
