Additions to Planned Street Work Possible

The low bid for street repaving this year was so good, the city may contract for additional work, council members have said.

The City Council last week approved a low bid of $89,646 for repaving residential streets in the city’s northeast area. City officials previously estimated the work would cost $108,070.

City Manager Fred Maley said the low bid for the repaving was so favorable that the council should consider adding more streets to work scheduled this year.

Maley said the contract allows for some additions.

The council agreed and authorized Maley to negotiate for additional street work on the contract.

Maley said the extra work would bring the cost to about what the city had originally estimated for the repaving.
