School Board to Hear Contract Proposals

Share

The Garden Grove Unified School District Board of Education will receive contract proposals from its four labor unions when it meets tonight in regular session.

Proposals will be presented by the Garden Grove Education Assn., representing teachers, nurses and librarians; the California School Employees Assn., representing such employees as bus drivers and classroom aides; Garden Grove Pupil Personnel Services Assn., representing school counselors; and the Garden Grove Unified School District’s Supervisory Unit, representing classified employee supervisors.

School district spokesman Alan Trudell said the presentation is the first step in the district’s regular collective bargaining process. After receiving the proposals, the board will offer a public response, then negotiations will begin.

Trudell said that contracts have been approved by September or October in past years and that the district doesn’t expect any problems in its collective bargaining this year.

“We have always had a good relationship with our collective bargaining units, and we are optimistic that our relationship will continue,” he said.

The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in the district’s board room, 10331 Stanford Ave. Information: (714) 663-6000.
