Beverly J. Patrick; Avid World Traveler

Oxnard resident Beverly J. Patrick, an avid traveler who circled the globe with her husband, Navy Capt. Donald Patrick, died Feb. 28. She was 70.

Born in Milwaukee, Patrick was a teenager when her parents moved the family to California. She graduated from Santa Clara High School in 1944, and married Donald Patrick in 1947.

For the next 26 years, the couple traveled the world. Patrick loved traveling through and living in Asia. She had a special fondness for Japan, where she forged many lifelong friendships. She was passionate about animals, and owned cats, dogs and horses throughout her life.

Most recently, Patrick worked as a dispatcher for Gold Coast Transportation in Oxnard, and as a tour guide for Donna’s Tours in Santa Paula. She is survived by her brother, John Manion of Oxnard; a sister-in-law; and three nephews.

Following a memorial service for the immediate family, Patrick’s ashes will be scattered at sea.
