Micron, 3Com Form Strategic Alliance

Micron Electronics Inc. will integrate 3Com Corp.’s computer networking technologies into its electronic products and services under a strategic alliance, the companies said. The deal will allow Nampa, Idaho-based Micron to make its systems compatible with 3Com networking technologies, they said. Micron will also participate in Santa Clara-based 3Com’s branding and ship its ClientPro product line and selected Millennia computer products certified as 3Com network-ready systems at no additional charge. Micron’s shares rose $2.50 to close at $42.375 on NYSE; 3Com rose $1.625 to $35.44 on Nasdaq.
