Meadows’ ‘Net Day’ Is a First for District

Meadows Elementary School today will hold a Net Day--the first for the Conejo Valley Unified School District, which has been criticized as being behind the technology curve.
Dozens of parents will measure and cut computer wiring, the strands that within two weeks will allow students to cruise the Internet.
“Each computer--we have about 40 of them--will have full access,” said Meadows computer specialist John Darago. “The students will be able to access the World Wide Web and the teachers will be able to [enrich] their curriculum.”
He added: “Students will be able to develop pen pal relationships with students in other countries. What it’s really doing is bringing the world into the classroom.”
The Meadows Net Day will take place between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at 2000 La Granada Drive. Volunteers are welcome.
