UCLA 85, Washington St. 63--Maylana Martin had 25 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Bruins to victory in their season finale.

Martin, the Pac-10 freshman of the year, finished the season with 484 points, third on UCLA’s freshman scoring list behind Denise Curry (610 points in 1977-78) and Necie Thompson (514 in 1980-81).

The Bruins (13-14, 7-11) fell behind, 10-3, early. But they rallied with a 15-4 spurt to go up, 18-14, and led, 33-29, at halftime.

UCLA scored 10 points in a row midway through the second half to lead, 66-48. Martin scored 17 points in the second half when UCLA shot 64%.

Amy Saneholtz and Yvonne Kunze each scored 15 points for Washington State (10-17, 4-14).

UC Santa Barbara 81, UC Irvine 66--Amy Smith scored 32 points at Reno as the Gauchos rolled over the Anteaters to claim their third Big West Conference tournament championship and an automatic NCAA tournament berth.

Rachel Mahar and Erin Alexander each had 12 points for UC Santa Barbara (24-5), which has the No. 2 offense in the nation and 14 consecutive victories, matching a school record.

Smith, the tournament MVP, scored 20-plus points in seven consecutive games, including all three victories in the tournament.

The Anteaters finished 16-13.
