More than 550 students, their parents and friends experimented with static electricity and dissected squid at the fourth annual Glenview Elementary School Family Science Night.

Kindergarten teacher Kim Wildey spent nearly two weeks preparing 10 rooms with experiments and science crafts. Participants made 3-D glasses, performed experiments with bubbles and magnets, and made one another’s hair stand on end by using static electricity wands.

The most popular exhibit was the squid room, Wildey said. There, fledgling scientists dissected a squid, wrote a letter with its ink sack, then cooked and ate the mollusk.
