Re Column Right, “A Virus on the Ethics Drive of AL 2000,” Column Right, March 9:

Arianna Huffington’s column on Vice President Al Gore should have been in the comics section.

The Huffingtons don’t have to worry about fund-raising, they just attempt to buy elections.

She devoted a great deal of space to a very disrespectful attack on Gore’s personality. I’ll take the vice president’s mistakes on fund-raising any day over Mrs. Huffington’s “fund-raising” techniques.

I was delighted with Pat Oliphant’s cartoon about “Alberta” Gore on March 7. After four years of the Clinton/Gore “we’re so honest and caring” facade, the truth about these two hucksters is finally coming to light.

Either I’m confused, or I can’t see the forest for the trees. Do we elect politicians because they’re good at running government departments, or do we elect them because they’re good at running campaigns?
