‘Date Rape’ Drug Ban Wins Approval

Florida lawmakers voted unanimously to outlaw the so-called date rape drug, saying it has no therapeutic use and is becoming the drug of choice of sexual predators. Rohypnol, has come under fire from law enforcement officials who say sex-crime victims unwittingly ingest it, often becoming incapacitated and losing their memories of the event. The measure sailed through both houses of Florida’s Legislature in one day. Gov. Lawton Chiles is expected to sign it.
