Adult School Principal Convicted of Stealing $27,000 From District

A former Inglewood Adult School principal on Friday was found guilty in Los Angeles Superior Court of stealing $27,000 from the Inglewood Unified School District.

John Rabun, a principal at the school for 10 years, was convicted by a jury of misappropriating public funds and grand theft by embezzlement, according to Deputy Dist. Atty. Daniel Nixon. Rabun faces up to four years in prison.

Rabun was arrested last May for a scheme that involved a 1994 check that had reportedly been made out to Rabun from the school’s account. The check was then allegedly converted into a cashier’s check and deposited into a Rabun family business account. A week later, Rabun reportedly closed escrow on his Ladera Heights home.
