From Bloomberg News

Hewlett-Packard Co. has introduced a photo system that turns a personal computer into a digital darkroom for home users.

For about $1,400, a home photo enthusiast can get a digital camera that inputs film directly to the computer, a scanner to scan regular photos and a printer that puts the images on photo paper. All the products are HP brand.

HP is looking to capitalize on the huge number of people who love to take photos and would want to make their own copies, or enlargements or crop the photos for collages, without having to go to a professional. HP is already the top seller of printers and has done well with its ScanJet scanner line in the business market.
