Cultural Affairs Panel Seeks Applicants
Lovers of art, music and culture who represent any local arts organization are invited to apply for a spot on Ventura’s Arts and Cultural Affairs Committee.
The five-member committee provides planning, financial support and services to promote development of arts organizations, artists and cultural activity in the city. The committee also advises the City Council on artistic and cultural matters.
“The committee is responsible for grant allocations to art programs and artists, as well as bigger issue-type things,” said Sonia Tower, Ventura’s cultural affairs manager.
She cited the downtown cultural district plan as one issue currently under review. Committee members are exploring ways to enhance cultural activities taking place downtown, as well as where to place a performing arts center, or badly needed visual arts space.
The board meets the fourth Thursday of the month at 5:30 at City Hall. Committee members are appointed to four-year terms.

Applications must be received by April 4.
