Boyds Wheels Inc.: The Stanton designer and manufacturer of aluminum wheels and related products for the automotive and motorcycle aftermarkets posted net income of $1.3 million, or 41 cents a share, for 1996, 41% higher than the $948,000, or 48 cents a share, reported a year ago. Sales rose 53% to a record $27.2 million from $17.8 million. A net loss of $258,000, or 7 cents a share, was reported for the fourth quarter, contrasted with net income of $268,000, or 10 cents a share, for the 1995 fourth quarter. Sales rose 37% to $6.7 million from $4.9 million. The company said earnings were affected by temporary manufacturing inefficiencies, higher than expected scrap rates and a less profitable foreign/domestic sales mix.
