Graphix Zone, which publishes entertainment computer software, said Tuesday that it has hired David Hirschhorn, a mergers and acquisitions advisor, as the company’s new chief executive officer and co-chairman.

Hirschhorn replaces Ron Posner, who joined Graphix Zone last year and has attempted to rebuild the Irvine-based company through mergers with other multimedia firms. Posner, an industry veteran, will remain with Graphix Zone as co-chairman.

Hirschhorn was formerly managing director in the corporate finance group of the investment banking firm Cruttenden, Roth. He specialized in entertainment and media transactions.
