Soldiers Arrested After Racist Attack

Shouting racial slurs, nine soldiers armed with baseball bats and knives attacked an Italian and two Turks in the eastern town of Detmold, prompting Defense Minister Volker Ruehe to order an inquiry. The soldiers, ages 20 to 23, were arrested; the victims were treated for head injuries.
