Opportunities to Volunteer
Staff Builders/Hospice of the Canyon needs volunteers to provide companionship and emotional support to terminally ill patients and their families. Hours are flexible. Training and support are provided. Call Lianne Casselman at (800) 334-7859.
The Family Stress Center in Panorama City needs volunteers to work with abused preschoolers and toddlers in play therapy groups. Volunteers are also needed to work with parents of abused children in a supervised group setting. A strong background in psychology is required and Spanish-speaking applicants are preferred. Volunteers are needed for three-hour shifts in the afternoons or early evenings. A one-year commitment is required. Burbank’s Retired Senior Volunteer Program needs volunteers 55 and older for the following jobs:
* Receptionists for the front office of the Josyln Adult Center. Duties include answering questions, directing calls to staff and taking messages.
* Sales people, cashiers, pricers and merchandise screeners at the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop in Toluca Lake that sells used merchandise including designer clothing, antiques and furniture.
